FPCCI Regional S/C on gems & Jewellery expels Mahmood Shah

An important meeting of the Regional Standing Committee of Gems and Jewellery of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry was held on February 9, 2013, to discuss some important issues, including the expulsion of Masood Ali alias Mahmood Shah, from the post of Vice-Chairman, Jewellery sector Regional Standing Committee on Gems and Jewellery of FPCCI and General Secretary, GAPC-Pakistan, for his financial fraud, misuse of his position and misguidance members of the gems and jewellery community.

During the meeting Muhammad Rafique Aasi, Regional Secretary, FPCCI, informed the participants that the Federation had received a letter from one Muhammad Azeem in which baseless allegations were leveled against Muhammad Ahmad, President GAPC-Pakistan and Mr Aasi. On this Mr Iftikhar Ali Malik ordered an inquiry into the matter.

During the joint meeting of GAPC-Pakistan, Lahore Division Sarafa and Jewellers Association among other matters Mahmood Shah allegations against Muhammad Ahmad and Mr Aasi were discussed. On this issue, Mr Aasi informed the house that Mahmood Shah gave him written apology. However, the house reposed full confidence in Muhammad Ahmad and voted action against Mahmood Shah. All the participants unanimously voted to expel Mahmood Shah from FPCCI Regional Standing Committee for gems and jewellery. At the same time, Muhammad Azeem admitted before the full house his fault of writing applications to Iftikhar Ali Malik and Tariq Saeed by saying that he was fraudulently got signed on a paper which he realized later. As a result of the proceedings of the said committee, the FPCCI decided to ban Mahmood Shah entry in its premises.

Haji Aminuddin, GAPC-Pakistan Zonal Chairman, Punjab, said that this matter should be condemned strongly.
