“I will try my best to promote bilateral trade and economic development between Pakistan and Portugal,” said Portugal Ambassador Dr. Joao Paulo Sabido Costa during his visit at the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) on May 11, 2016, (Wednesday).
He said Pakistan is rich country with mineral resources and emphasized over enhancing bilateral trade between both countries. He said Pakistan has great importance at international level due to its political and geographical significance on the world map.
Dr. Costa did this visit on the request of Gold & Gems Art Promotion Council of Pakistan (GGAPCP). The honorable ambassador appreciated Mr. Muhammad Ahmad, Chairman Regional Standing Committee on gems and jewellery, FPCCI, and President of GGAPCP, for organizing august gathering to hold discussion on gems and jewellery sector. He also admired efforts of the members of the FPCCI for their role to bring both countries together.
Regional Chairman and Vice-President, FPCCI Mian Aziz ur Rehman Chan, Pak Portugal Business Council Chairman Muhammad Awais and number of businessmen and traders were present there on the occasion.
The ambassador also visited a small exhibition where precious and semi precious gems stones and hand-made jewellery items were displayed. Mr. Costa admired the potential of local jewellery and gems wealth.
Chairman of Regional Standing Committee and president of GGAPCP Mr. Muhammad Ahmad also addressed the participants. He briefed him about the potential of gems and jewellery sector. He stated Portugal is very important for him and he would request to Mr. Costa, Portugal ambassador to Pakistan, to play his role for bilateral trade and economic development of both counties.
At the end of the meeting, GGAPCP President Mr. Ahmad presented souvenir to Honorable Ambassador Dr. Costa and GGAPCP Vice-President Rana Nadeem Aleem presented souvenir to Pak-Portugal Business Council Chairman Mr. Muhammad Awais while Gujrat Chambers of Commerce & Industry’s Sanding Committee on gems and jewellery’s chairman Hafiz Muhammad Ayub presented souvenir to Pak-Portugal Business Council Senior Vice-Chairman Haji Sohail Anjum Ansari.
On the occasion, different stalls of precious and semi-precious rough gems stones and traditional jewellery were also displayed. Mr. Saifuddin from Gilgit Baltistan and Chitral, Awais Ayub from Gujrat while Shahid Mehmood from District Faisalabad displayed stalls of rough gems stones and stalls of traditional jewellery. |
